Brothers Working Together…
The story of McSwain Carpets & Floors began with the shared dedication and collaboration of two brothers. From the age of twelve, Ron McSwain worked alongside his older brother Ralph at his flooring company, installing hardwood floors to help fund his college education. Their passion and craftsmanship were rooted in a family legacy, handed down by their father and grandfather, both of whom ran small hardwood flooring businesses from their homes. Among the values they inherited was a guiding principle: to always deliver “service you can trust.”
On July 18, 1968, McSwain Carpets was officially incorporated with a clear mission—to deliver exceptional service and top-quality carpeting to builders and homeowners throughout the Cincinnati area.
The Business Expands…
The business experienced rapid growth, doubling in size every three years. By 1978, McSwain expanded its services to meet the needs of customers in Northern Kentucky.
In 1980, McSwain Carpets was honored with “The Flooring Award,” one of the most prestigious accolades in the floor covering industry. The company continued its growth by opening its first Dayton location in 1986, where a steadfast commitment to customer service helped solidify its outstanding reputation.
In 1988, Ron McSwain was named “Small Business Person of the Year” by the Chamber of Commerce, and the company earned the “Crescendo Award,” recognizing it as one of the 50 fastest-growing businesses in Cincinnati.

More than five decades after opening our first store, McSwain Carpets & Floors remains a proud family business. Under the leadership of President Jason McSwain, we continue to uphold our core value of putting customer service above all else.
